"Q" codes

The reason we want you NOT to use Q codes is that you don't know what you are saying and it is usually redundant.

example:  "I am at my work QTH"  When you translate it properly you are saying, "I am at my work my position is."  Sounds like Yota doesn't it?

Q codes were designed back in CW mode days only when it was much easier to use 3 letters instead of many.

example:   "What is your position?" (19 CW characters)    or   "QTH?"  ( 4 CW characters

Q codes applicable for use in amateur radio so you can appreciate why we don't use them on voice.
